Holy Walkamolies – The Big Day Approaches!

There’s no turning back now… On Saturday 1st June we’ll be setting off on that sponsored walk over the Yorkshire Dales that we’ve been banging on about for the past few months. Just a brisk stroll really- albeit one lasting up to 30 hours and taking us over 100KM in length… (How far?!?!?!)

We have been given our official start time – 8am on Saturday morning which at least allows us a lie in until 6am, rather than the 4am that we originally entered for (!)

So at 8am we set off to our first stop – theNorth Yorkshire village of Malham – aiming to arrive at about 11ish. After that we  trek over Fountains Fell into Horton-in-Ribblesdale for a pasta dinner about 5ish. Then it’s a long slog up and over Cam fell into Buckden for about 10pm. Oxfam will kindly be feeding us here before we trot 7 miles further and meet our support team for the final time about 1am before the final 6-hour slog through the night into dawn with an aim to finish (hopefully) around 7am. Less than 24 hours is the overall time we’re aiming for.

Holy Walkamolies - The Route

Believe it or not, we genuinely are raring to go.

–       Sue has her blister packs at the ready

–       Steve is popping all kinds of pills to prevent any illness from hitting him

–       Dan is being his normal methodical self and coming across almost disturbingly calm.

I speak for us all though when I say, lets get this show on the road, the weather looks like it’s going to shine on us and we’re going to nail it!

We just want to say a BIG thank you for all of your amazing help to date.

The Holy Walkamolies of 26Digital, are positioned 17th out of over 400 teams in the sponsorship table!!! That is bloody amazing!

We set out to achieve the base requirements of £1,400 and we’ve smashed it by over an extra 50%, currently sitting at over £2,200!!!

Our success comes down to the awesome support we’ve had from twentysix staffers, family and friends, clients and other well-wishers, plus an awesome bake sale which bought in over £150! Not to mention the ever persistent Mr Reedman who won’t leave anyone alone until they have ‘paid up’.

Anyways, it’s been a long time coming, but with a group accumulation of nearly 1,000 training miles already clocked in; consisting of long walks, short walks, night time walks and wet walks, we’re finally ready to go!

One Last Push…

So, thanks again and if you’ve not donated already, please help us reach an even bigger target on our Justgiving page.  A £10 donation sponsors each one of us £2.50 each, which works out at just 25p per kilometer each. Remember, it’s all for an excellent cause.

See you on the other side!
